Elias Koteas

Elias Koteas (born March 11 1961 in Montreal, Canada) is a Canadian actor with greek roots.

He played Detective Alvin Olinsky for 5 seasons and left Chicago PD at the end of season 5 because of creative reasons.

Elias is born in Montreal. His father worked as a mechanic for the Canadian National Railways, his mother was milliner. His parents came from Mani Peninsula, Greek, so he has greek roots.

Before he attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York in 1981 he was at the Vanier College in Montreal. He graduated 1983 and was a member of the Academyßs 1983-1984 Production Company. He studied actiny under Ellen Burstyn and Peter Masterson at the Actors Studio in New York City.

He played Father Rangier in a school production of The Devils adapted by John Whiting from the Aldour Huxley novel. He also played Paris in The Golden Apple, which is a musical from John Latouche and Jerome Moross.

Elias is also best known for his role of serial killer Edgar Reese in Denzel Washington´s thriller Fallen. He also played in a few series, CSI:NY and The Killing and in other movies like Skinwalkers, Zodiac, Shooter.
